Steven Goldfinger
Steve is Senior Scientist and Standards Program Manager at Global Footprint Network, an international NGO which, with its 75 partners, maintains annual Ecological Footprint accounts for over 150 nations and works to bring the reality of ecological limits into decision making. Steve develops and manages Footprint projects, builds coalitions and engages in outreach to extend application of the Footprint into new domains, manages the process of developing standards for Footprint applications, helps shape the organization’s strategic direction, and provides internal quality assurance.
Earlier Steve served as a senior consultant at Natural Strategies, a firm that pioneered new approaches to sustainability in business and local government. He also helped establish and served as Education Director of the Natural Step US, working to build public awareness of its science-based socio-ecological framework for sustainability. Steve also worked with Second Nature, a non-profit organization promoting environmental literacy and the greening of operations in higher education, where he co-authored recommendations to the President’s Council on Sustainable Development on the incorporation of sustainability principles and practices in higher education. Steve’s Ph.D. in psychology at Cornell University emphasized an ecological approach to perception and cognition.
Jeanne Trombly
Ms. Trombly founded Fiber Futures after successfully co-organizing a conference in 1997, which revealed a growing interest in the alternative “non-wood” fiber movement by attracting scientists, environmental advocates, farmers and corporate representatives. Through Fiber Futures, she effectively continued to identify a rapidly growing market opportunity and build a groundswell of interest.
Jeanne brings over 12 years of experience working in community economic development and the environment after having served as the Regional Fundraiser for the American Farmland Trust and Program Director for the Materials for the Future Foundation. In this capacity, she researched and designed an award-winning community revolving loan fund targeting high-risk recycling businesses in Alameda County, California. Jeanne is involved with Plug In America, which advocates the use of plug-in vehicles powered by cleaner, cheaper domestic electricity to reduce our nation’s dependance on petroleum and improve the global environment. In addition, she provided general business technical assistance and helped launch a building materials reuse company in San Francisco. Other background experience includes science writing and managing a group of angel investors. Ms. Trombly has a B.A. in International Affairs/Communications from George Washington University.
Gayatri Mehta
Gayatri is a Senior Manager with Accion Global Advisory Solutions based out of Barcelona. She’s dedicated to discovering sustainable solutions that drive climate positive and financially inclusive outcomes for microbusinesses globally. She brings 10+ years of experience in sustainability, technology and financial services for public, private, and nonprofit sectors around the world, including South America, East Africa, South Asia, and the EU. Gayatri has consulted with the European Investment Fund, has started and managed the Social Impact division of a micro-fintech organization and managed valuations for tech, cleantech and life science startups at Silicon Valley Bank.
Gayatri holds a Master of Public Administration at the London School of Economics (LSE) and a B.A. in Economics from the University of California San Diego.
Max Kaplan
Max Kaplan is a passionate supporter of sustainability. Max has made various contributions to the Foundation for a Sustainable Future (FSF). He is responsible for the creative direction of FSF and its various outreach FSF projects. In addition, Max creates and manages the various information systems for FSF. As a business administration major at the University of San Francisco, Max is devoted to the advancement and development of environmentally friendly businesses. He is the founder of Dynamic Deeds, a San Francisco based website development and branding company.
