Co-chair
of first annual conference which focused on alternative agricultural and
environmentally preferable fibers for the paper, textile and building
material industries. Fiber Futures '97 attracted product manufacturers,
market makers and environmental advocates of alternative fibers. Contacted
speakers, recruited sponsors and booth holders and oversaw the development
of conference outreach materials. Fibers covered included agricultural
crop residues (straw), kenaf, hemp, organic cotton and other emerging
agricultural fibers. |

Relations/Outreach Developed
a strategic outreach and press campaign for new e-commerce company selling
casual clothing made from organic cotton. Designed press kit, determined
priority list, conducted follow-up, trained in-house personnel. A brief
campaign succeeded in three press hits. Proceeds from the company are
being directed towards setting up wildlife sanctuaries in Africa and other
