Rice straw is the largest source of fibrous agricultural residue in the world, and is particularly abundant in developing coutries. Rice straw can be processed in to a variety of useful products, including paper and builing materials. The main obstacle in clean processing is the high silica content. New technologies might overcome this obstacle soon.
